The long-awaited and finally arrived “Biorina Winter Rally Rokiškis” took place on the last weekend in February. Four N5 crews arrived at the Rokiškis, all of whom had slightly different experiences on the snow this year. Two crews took part in the competition as guests and used this rally as a training session. Julius Masonas will take part in the Lithuanian Rally Sprint Championship this year, the first event of which was this rally. Rokas Markovičius and Tomas Grigonis joined him. On Friday, the participants completed the formalities before the start, and late Saturday morning they set off through the starting arch to the first special stages.

Irmantas Buivydas and his brother Edvinas, driving a Ford Fiesta N5, showed impressive speed right from the first few kilometers. This sprint was not to last long, however, as the crew encountered problems on the second special stage. However, the brothers took advantage of the “Rally2” rule and continued to compete for some time, no longer in the overall standings but again with top 3 times. As for the Top3 in the overall standings, Paulius Beniušis and Kristupas Adinavičius were very successful in it. It was their third rally this winter with the Citroen C3 N5 and the kilometers covered were naturally reflected in the results. After almost fifty kilometers of fighting, the crew from Kaunas finished third in the overall standings and second in the AWD+ class.

For Julius Masonas, who was competing in the Lithuanian Rally Sprint Championship classification, this was the longest rally he had ever driven. With doublle 2024 champion Markas Buteikis at his side, Julius drove the first sprint championship event very solidly. The crew, which was close to the top ten in the overall standings, finished fourth overall among the sprint participants and climbed onto the podium in the Open class. As a coefficient of 1.2 points applies to the LARSC winter events, Julius will bring home a considerable dowry of points from Rokiškis.

Unfortunately, the rally was not very successful for Rokas Markovičius and Tomas Grigonis, who were driving their second winter rally in a Hyundai i20 N5. The rally became complicated for them already in the first special stage, but the crew returned to the rally in the afternoon according to the Rally2 rule. After the resumption of the rally, Rokas and Tomas successfully finished the remaining special stages.
